Fischer Press Box dedication
The Kim Fischer Press Box at the Bluffton University Softball Field was dedicated on Saturday, April 6, prior to a double header against Defiance College. The dedication included a ribbon cutting, ceremonial first pitch from Fischer’s sister, Susan Baker, and words of remembrance from Fischer’s former players. In less than six-months, former players came together to commit more than half of the $300,000 in honor of Bluffton’s winningest female coach. Inducted into the Bluffton University Hall of Fame in 1999, Fischer coached Beavers volleyball for 19 seasons, women's basketball for 11 seasons, and softball for 6 seasons. Fischer was named WBCC Coach of the Year in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987 (co) and 1990, and AMC Coach of the Year in 1994 (co). Dr. Kim Fischer finished her career at Otterbein University as a member of the teaching faculty and passed away on May 19, 2023.
