Student governance

Student Senate
Phill Talavinia, advisor
Student Senate represents the interests of students to the administration, faculty and university community. Senators also share responsibility in coordinating student activities. The senate consists of four members from each class and a president.

Residence hall associations
Each residence hall has its own governing body which has as its members the students living in the hall and the hall director who acts as advisor to the group. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) acting body is composed of an elected board consisting of the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and a representative from each floor.

The RHA initiates and enforces residence hall regulations and makes proposals to the administration and the general campus community concerning residence halls and other campus issues and regulations that are outside of the jurisdiction of the RHA. The hall association also sponsors social and educational activities in the residence halls.

Marbeck Center Board
Kevin White, advisor
Marbeck Center Board (MCB) is the student-run, campus activity board for Bluffton University. MCB strives to encourage student life and involvement for the campus community by planning events throughout the school year which range from bingo nights in Bob's Place to coffeehouse concerts to trips off campus. In addition, MCB organizes many campus-wide special events including Welcome Back Fest and Midnight Madness. However, MCB is probably best known for the Friday, late-night event series Marbeck After Dark which occurs every Friday night at 9 p.m. in Bob s Place. The board consists of a diverse group of students, representing a variety of subpopulations. While two seats on the board are reserved for incoming first-year students starting in the fall semester, the main recruitment and application process for the coming academic year occurs in the spring semester. The campus community is encouraged to provide ideas and feedback to help MCB provide exciting and engaging opportunities and programs for Bluffton students.
