Why did you choose Bluffton?
I fell in love with the campus and small town feel on my visit. Bluffton also has great facilities, a good professor to student ratio and caring people. Additionally, Bluffton gave me the opportunity to play college basketball.
Why did you choose your major? Are your classes helpful?
I chose nursing because of the impact I could make on others from day one in the profession. Nursing also has great job security, and I enjoy knowing I will never have an issue finding a job. My classes have been very helpful, as I feel I gain clinical experience and have supportive faculty around me that help me succeed.
What type of job do you want following graduation? What are your career goals?
I plan to graduate with my bachelor’s in science of nursing and then work in a critical care unit like intensive care unit or cardiovascular ICU. Then I plan to go to CRNA school for three years. After I graduate, I plan to work full-time as a CRNA.
Tell us about Bluffton’s faculty, staff, and coaches. Are they helping you reach your
goals?
Bluffton’s faculty consist of people who want the best for their students, not only in the classroom but in life as a whole. I feel like the faculty are able to listen to what I want for my future and put me into the best situations to achieve that goal.
What student organizations are you part of? Why is it important for you to be active
on campus?
I am a part of the men’s basketball team and the Bluffton University student nurses organization. It is important for me to be active on campus because that is how you meet new people and make lasting relationships. Additionally, being active on campus can set you up for unique opportunities or learning experiences.
Are you a student-athlete? If so, which sport(s) do you play, and what is the best
part of being on a team at Bluffton?
I play basketball here at Bluffton, and I really enjoy hanging out with my teammates and making memories with them.
Have you completed an internship or other hands-on learning experience? Tell us about
it and what you learned from that experience.
Through the nursing program, I have shadowed two different providers in different healthcare settings around Ohio. I really enjoyed both of my clinical observations as I got to learn more about the profession, steps to becoming a great provider, and different pathways I could take in the profession. Through these experiences, I learned that I am in the right program for me, and that I will really enjoy what I want to become.
Is there anything else about being a student at Bluffton that you would like to share?
Being a Bluffton student makes you feel valued and seen. Throughout campus there is always someone that wants your best interest and is willing to help you get to where you want to be.
