Why did you choose Bluffton?

I chose Bluffton because I enjoyed the small class size and loved the volleyball coach and team.

Why did you choose your major? Are your classes helpful?

I have always wanted to become a teacher since I was little. Giving children a safe environment for them to learn has always been something I thought was needed in education. I also love the fact that teachers help students become who they want to be in the future.

What type of job do you want following graduation? What are your career goals?

After graduation I plan to get my master's degree in education. Then, I hope to be able to go back to my hometown and teach elementary students. And maybe also later on, I will become a volleyball coach for a younger grade level.

Tell us about Bluffton’s faculty, staff, and coaches. Are they helping you reach your goals?

Bluffton’s staff is amazing. I can tell that my professors love teaching us and are passionate about their area. My coaches are also great. They are the kind of people who do not focus on the mistakes you have made but only on how you can become better from them.

What student organizations are you part of? Why is it important for you to be active on campus?

Other than being a part of the volleyball team, I have recently joined the art club. Nothing has been done in the club yet, but I am excited to do some fun projects and activities. It is important for me to be active on campus because it allows students to get together and possibly give back to the community.

Are you a student-athlete? If so, which sport(s) do you play, and what is the best part of being on a team at Bluffton?

I play volleyball and the best part about being on the team is having a group that you can go to for anything. Volleyball has given me a lot of friendships and that will always continue. I think being part of a team can help your character so much and help you become the person you want to be.

Have you completed an internship or other hands-on learning experience? Tell us about it and what you learned from that experience.

So far in college, I have done classroom observations in my first semester for 40 hours. It was at an elementary school in Lima. I loved going there and seeing the kids and imagining myself in my own classroom. It was a great experience for me to actually see how a classroom runs and different strategies for learning and behavior.

Is there anything else about being a student at Bluffton that you would like to share?

Overall, I am very glad I chose Bluffton and have a lot of good things to say about every aspect of the campus. Having a great community and staff as well as a team is so helpful when transitioning from high school to college.
