Exercise science and strength and conditioning double major

                     Lima, Ohio

                     Graduation year: 2027

                     Why did you choose Bluffton?
Being from around Lima I grew up coming to campus many times whether for an athletic
event or to go to the movie theater in Bluffton. A memory that made me want to attend
Bluffton was when my dad had brought me up to campus when I was about six or seven
and showed me the Circle of Remembrance. During that visit he told me what had happened
and how he still remembers exactly where he was that day. Seeing the sense of community
my dad had felt years after he had graduated and stopped playing baseball here, I
knew that I wanted to be apart of this community.

Why did you choose your major?
As an athlete I have sustained multiple injuries that have put me out for years at
a time. Each time I dove into the weight room and put my efforts there when I couldn’t
put them onto the field. During those times I have found a love for exercise and all
the benefits it can do for people. This led me to choose exercise science and strength
                        and conditioning.

The classes at Bluffton are very helpful, there are many different hands-on experiences
within the HFSS department to allow you to take what you learn in the classroom and
be able to apply it to real life experiences in your desired field.

What type of job do you want following graduation?
Following up my graduation at Bluffton, I plan to go to graduate school to further
my education in exercise science and strength and conditioning. After that I want
to work with a Major League Baseball team within their strength and conditioning program.
This has been a dream of mine to be there and work with professional athletes and
help them to perform better on the field or recover from injuries. One of my career
goals is to eventually own my own baseball and softball training facility to help
athletes of all ages and to provide them with a place to improve their skills wether
that be from time in the weight room or practicing.

Tell us about Bluffton’s faculty, staff and coaches.
Members of Bluffton’s staff such as academic advisors, coaches and faculty have helped
me to plan for my career after school and helped take the right steps to make sure
I am headed down the right path.

What student organizations are you part of?
Outside of President’s Ambassador I am apart of Revive U and Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. Being involved on campus is important to get to know different people and
to immerse yourself within the Bluffton community. In doing this I have met many people
with similar interests as me and it makes my time at Bluffton University more meaningful.

                     Are you a student-athlete?
For the last two years I have been apart of the Bluffton baseball team. With being
on a team at Bluffton the best part is being able to spend your time with your teammates
while supporting other teams. For example, the baseball team goes to many of the men’s
and women’s basketball games over the winter. It is a lot of fun sitting with the
other 50 guys rooting on the Beavers.
