The classroom technology project was a key component of Bluffton’s Pillars of Purpose campaign, a one-year strategic campaign focused on strengthening the university and enhancing the student experience.
Donor generosity powers Bluffton’s classroom technology upgrade
Bluffton University has completed a campuswide classroom technology upgrade, providing students and faculty with modern tools designed to enhance learning, collaboration and engagement. The project was made possible through the generosity of Bluffton alumni and donors, who contributed more than $300,000 to support the purchase and installation of the new technology.
The classroom technology project was a key component of Bluffton’s Pillars of Purpose campaign, a one-year strategic campaign focused on strengthening the university and enhancing the student experience. The successful completion of the project demonstrates the impact of donor support in addressing an immediate campus need and creating meaningful opportunities for students.
Every classroom on campus is now equipped with updated technology, including a large interactive touchscreen display and touchscreen desktop monitor. Faculty can connect their laptops with a single cable, annotate and save notes directly on the screen, and share content clearly throughout the classroom. Students can also interact directly with the display, creating opportunities for more collaborative and engaging lessons.
The technology is compatible with virtually any device students bring to campus, allowing faculty and students to seamlessly incorporate digital resources into the classroom. Bluffton University partnered with local technology suppliers Barry Electronics and PERRY proTECH to provide and install the new classroom technology.
“Investments like this are an investment directly in our students and their educational experience,” said Pete Suter, vice president of advancement. “We are incredibly grateful to the alumni and donors who recognized the importance of providing Bluffton students with modern, reliable classroom technology. Their generosity is helping create learning spaces where students can engage, collaborate and prepare for what comes next.”
Dr. Mary Robinson, vice president and dean of academic affairs, noted the technology provides faculty with additional opportunities to engage students and create dynamic learning experiences.
“Technology is most valuable when it helps faculty and students connect with one another and with the material they are learning,” Dr. Robinson said. “These new classroom tools give our faculty greater flexibility while providing students with more opportunities to participate, collaborate and engage in meaningful ways. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this investment in our classrooms possible.”
The successful completion of the classroom technology project represents one of the tangible outcomes of the Pillars of Purpose campaign and Bluffton’s continued commitment to providing students with learning environments that support academic achievement and prepare them for success beyond graduation.
