Faculty and Staff at Bluffton University

Bluffton University honors faculty and staff at annual recognition lunch 

Dr. Alex Sider, president of Bluffton University, and Bluffton University Cabinet recognized faculty and staff for milestone years of service during the annual faculty and staff recognition lunch held Tuesday, May 5.  

The event celebrated employees whose dedication and service have contributed to the university’s mission of preparing students for lives of purpose, service and leadership. 

Faculty and staff members were honored for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 35 years of service. Those recognized for five years included Matthew Bosworth, Tobias Buckell, Jordan Hamilton, Paige Jansen, Brienne Sprunger and Olivia Zuercher. Mary Bias was recognized for 10 years of service. Dr. Walt Paquin was recognized for 15 years of service. 

Employees marking 20 years of service included Dr. Paul Neufeld Weaver and Dr. Alex Sider. Those recognized for 30 years of service were Dr. Daniel Berger, Dr. Stephen Harnish, Dr. Gerald Mast, Dr. Angela Montel, Dr. Lamar Nisly and Dr. Gayle Trollinger. Jacqui Slinger was honored for 35 years of service.  

Citations highlighted careers marked by teaching excellence, scholarship, mentorship and leadership across campus and beyond. Lunch was provided for all faculty and staff members, followed by a ceremony of recognition. 

Each honoree received a token of appreciation from the university, and those who celebrated 25 years and above were given opportunity to reflect. All spoke about the relationships, community and spirit of Bluffton that continues to drive their work and commitment to the university. 

The annual recognition event serves as an opportunity to celebrate the people who sustain and advance the university’s mission through their daily work with students and colleagues.
