Head Strength and Conditioning Coach/Strength and Conditioning Field Experience Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Bluffton University seeks to employ a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
(CSCS). This will be a shared position between athletics and Academic Affairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and supervise year-round strength and conditioning programs for all varsity sports.
- Collaborate with athletic training staff to support injury prevention and rehabilitation protocols.
- Monitor athlete progress and adjust training programming accordingly.
- Educate student-athletes on safe training practices, recovery, and basic nutrition principles.
- Supervise strength and conditioning facilities.
- Mentor student interns and exercise science students.
- Establish and maintain field experience sites and reciprocal MOUs for an accredited CASCE program.
- Coordinate and evaluate student field experiences in collaboration with the S&C Program Director.
- Teach in the S&C curriculum as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BA in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field (master’s degree required for teaching).
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS); CPR and AED certifications required. USA Weightlifting (USAW) certification preferred but not required.
- Experience as an assistant, intern, or career coach with collegiate athlete populations required; direct experience in strength and conditioning preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and course management system
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Must be able to demonstrate appropriate skills and techniques used by athletes. Must
be able to visually monitor athletes.
