Transfer counselor and Admissions special projects manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The transfer counselor and admissions special projects manager works closely with
the vice president of advancement and enrollment management to further the mission
and goals of Bluffton University through exemplary enrollment practices including
recruiting transfer students, management of special enrollment initiatives and admissions
communication flow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment territories:
- Actively recruit and manage transfer students to accomplish enrollment goals of 50 per year (25 in the fall and 25 as spring starts).
- In collaboration with the director of public relations, develop and execute a Mennonite student recruitment plan.
- Manage the College Credit Plus and Transient Student enrollment processes.
Admissions special projects:
- Oversee annual admissions communication flow, including execution of the digital communications plan and oversight of the print communications plan.
- Responsible for daily review of email campaigns and queries, including monitoring the success of campaigns and making recommendations to the director of public relations and VP based on findings.
- Manage 8-10 Pipelines each year, including communication tactics and event planning, to accomplish enrollment goals.
- Manage 4-5 faculty recruiters each year, including executing strategic tactics to accomplish enrollment goals.
- Manage the talent award process with support and direction from the director of financial aid.
- In coordination with the director of public relations, support the development and execution of group visits and event registration, pre- and post-event communication, and program evaluation tools within JRM.
- Assist the VP in developing strategies for Bluffton’s enrollment program to support the university’s multi-year strategic objectives.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Support personal visit team by giving chats and tours as needed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities as relevant, to maintain
and enhance his/her skills and abilities, and to advance Bluffton’s priorities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability
required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job.
Minimum:
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing or communication from an accredited school
- Experience: Entry level position; experience in working as part of a high performing team; direct sales and customer service skills.
- Skill/Abilities: Excellent communications and organizational skills, ability to express the vision and mission of Bluffton University in spoken and written word. Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of an organization, i.e. senior leaders. Ability to manage multiple projects, work on deadline and achieve results. Ability to think strategically and to implement and manage change.

Preferred:
- Experience: 3 years’ experience in education/higher education or direct sales. Experience managing professional staff and leading group projects.
- Skill/Abilities: Ability to mentor and motivate a high performing team. Knowledge of broad scope of higher education admissions office, including best practices.

The physical demands and/or work environment encountered by the employee while performing
the essential responsibilities of this job must be met with or without reasonable

Typical office conditions. Some lifting of boxes weighing more than 15 pounds.
Travel includes regular regional auto travel and occasional overnight (with air travel). Ability to drive with a valid driver’s license.
