Information technology graduate assistant

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT graduate assistant serves as the first point of contact for faculty, staff and student technology support.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Triages incoming help desk requests by responding to the request, collecting additional information and/or reassigning the request to the appropriate IT staff member.
  • Monitors open requests to ensure timely updates and departmental deadlines are achieved.
  • If indicated and appropriate, works with the other IT staff to meet requests.
  • Assists with creating end user documentation.
  • Assists in maintaining internal inventories and documentation.
  • Other duties may be discussed and assigned depending upon interest, need and skill requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties of this job. 

Education /certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Current acceptance and enrollment in at least a 2-year graduate studies program

Skills/abilities:

  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to adapt communication style to the individual’s technical experience and comfort with technology.
  • Able to be flexible and adapt to different situations in a fast-paced work environment.

DEGREE OBTAINED:
Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Social Work (MSW)

Compensation:
Full tuition waiver with competitive stipend and room and board.
