Assistant professor of management

POSITION SUMMARY:
This faculty position will be appointed with tenure or on tenure-track depending on prior qualifications. The position is responsible for teaching an array of classes, primarily undergraduate, advising students, serving faculty governance, and contributing to the academic and community life of Bluffton University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Faculty responsibilities
- Teach 23-25 credit hours of courses in the general education curriculum, undergraduate
accounting and finance curriculum, and master’s in business administration program
of Bluffton University each fall and spring term.
- Faculty members are generally on nine-month work agreements that run from two weeks before classes begin in August through the day grades are due in May.
- Occasional meetings may be needed during the summer and faculty members should remain in touch with campus by reading email at least once a week during the summer.

Principles of Management
Financial Investments
Prod/Operations Management
The Theory and Practice of Management
Organizations, Management and American Culture
Managing People in Organizations
Strategic Issues in Contemporary Management
- Intro to Business Analytics
- Maintain an active agenda of academic and creative work as appropriate for tenure-track and tenured faculty at Bluffton University.
- Engage in service to the university and community as appropriate for tenure-track
and tenured faculty at Bluffton University.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Education and Experience:
- Doctorate in business-related field or MBA with tested experience
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Skill/Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in or ability to learn learning management system software (Moodle).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a sedentary position with approximately 12 hours of in-person classes per
week plus attendance in meetings and other events on campus. Some occasional travel
off-campus may be needed for conferences and/or off campus meetings.
COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with education and experience within the university pay scale.
