Curriculum and Program Format

Bluffton’s MBA is focused on leadership development, helping students understand management and leadership from a different perspective. Students will develop the knowledge needed to interact with various business disciplines such as accounting and marketing.

A cohort-based MBA class is scheduled to begin annually in August. However, students are welcome to join a cohort at the beginning of any new course, which begins every six weeks during the academic year. For the 22-month MBA, classes meet online one night a week from 6-9 p.m. The 12-month MBA classes meet online two nights a week, 6-9 p.m.

No. You do not need a business undergraduate degree to enroll in Bluffton University’s MBA program. Students from a wide range of academic backgrounds are welcomed, as long as they hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

The program is intentionally designed for professionals with diverse majors and career paths, helping them build leadership, management and strategic decision-making skills regardless of their undergraduate field.

This means you can pursue your MBA whether your bachelor’s degree is in business, education, healthcare, the arts, science or another discipline.

Yes. Bluffton University’s MBA program is structured for working adults, allowing you to maintain full-time employment while completing your degree.

Evening and online class formats are designed to fit professional schedules, with options such as once-a-week evening sessions that make it possible to be a full-time student while continuing to work full-time.

Many students in the program are already employed and immediately apply what they learn to their current careers.

To be admitted to the program, you must have a bachelors degree from a regionally-accredited institution.

Additional qualifications include a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in the last half of the bachelor's degree and a recommended four years of strong work experience. Applicants who are on a management track will also be considered.

If you choose the 24-month MBA, evening classes meet online once per week for six sessions per course, which permit you to be a full-time student while continuing full-time employment.

The program consists of 12 courses and can be completed in 12 months by completing two courses at a time for 12 months. Plan on 12-20 hours of homework per week during the school year.

The curriculum is current, integrative and takes a comprehensive approach to management using courses especially designed to take advantage of the contributions that adult students bring to the classroom.
The MBA program emphasizes understanding the nature of the managerial role and analyzing broad societal trends and related to the world of business. Students also develop skills in data analysis and financial literacy.

All students should have access to a computer and high-quality webcam. There are technology facilities on campus that can be used by students if they do not have one of their own. Students will also need access to appropriate word processing software, the Internet, and quiet space to participate in the synchronous courses.

Our programs can be completed from anywhere with a consistent Internet connection as all of our courses are offered through online virtual classroom.

Bluffton holds a certificate of authorization from the Ohio Board of Regents to confer the degrees of master of business administration and the master of arts in organizational management at Bluffton University.
