Inauguration FAQ

Let us help you plan an enjoyable visit to Bluffton University for the Inauguration of Dr. J. Alexander Sider! Search the list of FAQs to know what to expect at the Inauguration ceremony and related events.

Special delegates from other colleges and universities are invited to attend and/or participate in the processional of the ceremony. In addition, faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, friends and community partners are welcome to join us! Please note that seating for President Sider’s inauguration is limited. 

All those who plan to attend the Inauguration Ceremony must register for the event. Please note that seating for President Sider’s inauguration is limited. While RSVPs are required for attendance, a reservation does not guarantee a seat. Confirmation of attendance and seating will be sent closer to the event date. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you. The deadline to register is Sept. 9. To RSVP, please select the form that best fits you:

Classes will be held until 2:15 p.m. on Inauguration Day. The final class session that day, starting at 2:30 p.m., will be cancelled on Thursday, Oct. 2.

If you are a delegate or a faculty member processing in the ceremony, you should wear your regalia attire. As for students and staff who will attend but not participate in the ceremony, wear your favorite outfit that shows off your purple and white. It’s always a great day to be a Beaver! 

There are several events planned for students, faculty and staff, with some of these events being free and open to the public. Please see the Inauguration Week schedule of events to see what all is taking place. 

The Bluffton Inn and Suites is fully booked for Homecoming Weekend. Other lodging may be found north in Findlay, Ohio, or south in Lima, Ohio, both about 25 minutes from campus. Lodging>>
