Seeking Peace, Adding to the Beauty

Experience living in the second happiest country on earth according to Gallup and the Happy Planet Index. Live with Columbian host families in the beautiful colonial city of Bogota, Colombia, located in the cool highlands of the Andes mountains. Bi-cultural Mennonite church leaders living in Colombia will facilitate the experience and help us build bridges for international understanding.

Students will learn about the challenges of faith-based peace building from the perspective of a society which experienced conflict for many years and reflect on our role in an unequal world. We will become acquainted with the practice of the Colombian churches and church organizations such as Justapaz and Christian Peacemaker Teams that are working for social, political, economic and spiritual transformation in the Columbian context. Together with them we will explore ways that we can become instruments of God for justice and peacemaking. In addition to day trips, the group will make an excursion to the coast to experience the beauty and culture of another region of Colombia.
