more about 60 in 6

Why 6 weeks?
Studies in higher education indicate that the first 6 weeks of the academic year are crucial for students transitioning to unfamiliar surroundings, whether it is their first time at a college or they are a transfer student. In a 2009 article, Washington College Athletic Director Bryan Matthews put it this way:

“…based on the available data, the first six weeks is the most critical time for a successful transition to the college environment. It is the make-or-break period for many students regarding their academic, social and emotional engagement with their chosen institution.”

Why 60 events?
One key to a successful transition to a college setting is social engagement and community involvement. By offering 60 events during 6 weeks (an average of more than one event per day), you'll have ample opportunities to attend events, meet new people and form friendships that will form a social network of support and growth. This social network will, in turn, provide support for challenges you may face early in your college careers, both academically and emotionally.
