Learning at Bluffton is not confined to a classroom, but is infused throughout the Bluffton experience.
Depending on your major, you will have the opportunity, or be required, to acquire hands-on experience through internships. But there are so many other opportunities at Bluffton for leadership, vocational, academic and spiritual growth.
Grants to explore your vocation
Grants provide non-repayable aid. Grants, ranging from $500 to $2,000, support research or vocational exploration by Bluffton students.
Leah Bowman ’24, a social work major, received a Summer Discovery Grant to intern at Community Action Partnership of Lancaster. She worked with children who were living in a domestic violence safe house or transitional housing.
Hands-on learning and leadership
Delve deeper into a topic of interest. Broaden your knowledge base. Step into a leadership role. Opportunities are open to students in all majors, beginning as early as your first semester.
Run for Student Senate. Present your research in a First Tuesday in the Library Forum. Get paid to give back to your campus as a President’s Ambassador, ministry team member, resident advisor, tutor or student assistant.
Cael Rose ’26, a math major with AYA teaching licensure, is getting paid while gaining teaching experience tutoring calculus and pre-calculus on campus.
Academic Contests and awards
Submit your outstanding research papers for cash prizes. Compose and deliver a speech for cash prizes and the opportunity to advance to bi-national competition. Awards are presented annually at the end-of-the-year Academic Awards Forum.
