Coach Sean Kaighin

Men's soccer head coach Sean Kaighin will begin coaching duties at Bluffton on Aug. 1, 2024.

Men’s soccer coach hired 

 Bluffton University has named Sean Kaighin as its next head men’s soccer coach.  
Kaighin coached at the collegiate level since 2018. Kaighin has served as head coach at Marietta College where he achieved one of the highest retention rates among campus athletic programs. While coaching at Marietta, Kaighin received the staff award for mentoring from the Undergraduate Education Advisory Committee. He also served as volunteer assistant coach at Lourdes University.

Kaighin will start head coaching duties at Bluffton on Aug. 1.

“I’m honored and excited to be the next Head Coach for Bluffton Men’s Soccer as I believe we have a great opportunity ahead of us,” said Kaighin. “Thank you to James Grandey, and the hiring committee, for trusting in me!  Go Beavers!” 

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Kaighin recently served as boys youth director of coaching at Greater Toledo Futbol Club. During his time with Greater Toledo Futbol Club, Kaighin was responsible for overseeing the expansion and development of the boys youth teams.  He also served as director of boys and girls youth at Pacesetter Soccer Club.

Kaighin has a Premier Diploma, Sports Psychology and Individual Mental Skills Diploma and Goalkeeping 1 Diploma from United Soccer Coaches.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from University of Toledo in 2015 and an associate degree in adolescent education in 2013 from Owens Community College. While attending Owens, Kaighin was a two-year captain and recognized with the All-American Academic Superior award. 

He takes over for Steve Bushre who served as head coach for two seasons and led the men’s team to an HCAC conference appearance his first season.
