Bluffton University’s Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Roy Couch, will present the Fall Instrumental Concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24. The concert will be in beautiful Yoder Recital Hall on the campus of Bluffton University and is free and open to the public. Masks must be worn inside buildings on campus.

The program consists of familiar music that has been re-visited such as “Blessed Are They,” a setting of “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” The familiar folk tune “Shenandoah” is beautifully arranged by Frank Ticheli.

The magnificence of our universe is explored in “Stardance” by Michael Sweeney, “Solar Flare” by Tyler Arcari and “Sheltering Sky” by John Mackey. “Synergy” by Robert Buckley highlights the combined energy of musicians and listeners that is live music. A transcription of three movements from Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique” rounds out the program.

The performance is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships.
