Camp Friedenswald director to share during Bluffton University Alumni Forum
2007 Bluffton graduate Jenna Liechty Martin will share “Why Living My Best Life Depends on You: Camp as a Place of Interconnection and Joy,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
Martin is the executive director of Camp Friedenswald in Cassopolis, Mich. During Forum, Martin will discuss how serving at Camp Friedenswald has created an experience for her to form genuine community and connection, which is vital to living her best life.
The presentation will support Bluffton’s 2019-20 Civic Engagement Theme: “Living Our Best Lives.” Throughout the year, Bluffton’s students, faculty and staff are drawing on the Civic Engagement Theme to learn about and put into practice how we live with wholeness and joy.
Founded in 1949 as a place for Mennonites to renew their faithful commitments, the camp’s missions is to provide people of all ages the opportunity to grow in relationship with God, self, others and nature.
Today, camp leaders seek to be good stewards by caring for and restoring the land to its original state.
