Constitution Day Forum

Constitution Day Forum

Dr. William Angel, professor emeritus of political science from The Ohio State University at Lima, will discuss “Machiavelli and the Constitution of the United States” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

According to Angel, Machiavelli’s “The Prince” is generally not linked with the canon of American politics. However, “The Prince” is a starting point for understanding the complexities of our constitutional form of government. Machiavelli pulled aside the curtain as to how power really works. For him, Angel will explain, results alone mattered; process was irrelevant.

The presentation serves as Bluffton’s Constitution Day Forum. All educational institutions that receive federal funds are required to offer an instructional program each year on or near Sept. 17, the day the U.S. Constitution was signed in 1787.
