An incoming student at Bluffton University has been awarded the university’s full-tuition Presidential Scholarship, valued at more than $110,000 for four years.

Ethan Zaerr of Archbold, Ohio, is the scholarship recipient.

Zaerr, the son of Ronald and Elaine Zaerr, will be a graduate of Archbold High School this year. He is a member of Central Mennonite Church.

Zaerr was one of two winners of Bluffton’s 18th annual Presidential Scholarship competition, which brought 69 high-achieving high school seniors to campus to write an essay in response to a faculty lecture and previously assigned readings. Invited students had grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and a composite score of at least 25 on the ACT or 1130 on the SAT.

The Presidential Scholarship is renewable with a GPA of 3.0 or above at Bluffton.
