Community Building Activities in a Socially Distanced Way

Various Locations
Developing relationships is an important component of your Bluffton experience! While we are unable to host activities that involve the entire campus being together this year, here are a few opportunities for you to grab a new friend or two or three and start building those relationships (while maintaining the appropriate distance!).

  • Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Nature Preserve as we start the new academic year. Enjoy kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding. Or try your hand at fishing. All equipment is free and available for student use. The shed will be open. At other times, pick up the key at the information desk in Marbeck Center.
  • Hike any of the trails at the Nature Preserve and visit the “Swinging Bridge”; a cable suspension bridge across the Riley Creek.
  • Try your hand at Axe Throwing! Yes. With real axes. In the Marbeck Center parking area by Burcky Gym.
  • Small group volleyball on the sand courts by Sommer Center.
  • Walk to the Bluffton Dari Freeze (“The Whippy Dip” to Bluffton students) for ice cream. Get $1off your order with your Bluffton ID.
  • Tennis Ball Golf – Play the course. Check it out at: www.bluffton.edu/studentlife/involvement/intramurals/tbg-registration.aspx (You don’t need to register to play!)
  • Corn hole. Boards will be set up on the lawn on top of Shoker Hall.
  • Play giant games. Games you know, just super-sized! – Jenga, Connect 4, Yahtzee and more! Bassett Plaza, outside lower level of Marbeck Center.
  • Did you bring a bike? Check out the multiple designated bike paths and quiet streets in the village of Bluffton.
  • More activities may be added! Check at the information desk in Marbeck Center.
