Surpassed by the Petrona Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Sears Tower, at 1453 feet high and 110 stories, is now the second tallest skyscraper. It has 101 acres of floor space or 4.4 million square feet.
Clad in black aluminum with bronze-tinted glass, it uses a new form of tubular constructions for wind resistance. The building combines essentially nine self-contained vertical sections.
Renovations made in 1984-85 included this 4-story domed entrance and another entrance with domed skylights.
