Miami Beach Post Office

Howard L. Cheney
1937
1300 Washington Avenue

The main entrance

This federal building, more simplified in design than most Art Deco buildings, is sometimes defined as "Moderne," rather than Art Deco. See, for example, the Folger Library, or Hall of State (originally State of Texas Building) for similar styles. The structure is planar, streamlined, with minimal adornment. Here wings extend from the large drum-shaped central section.
