The north facade


This Mannerist summer palace (and stable) constructed for Federigo Gonzaga has four different exterior facades. Romano plays with classical architecture in sophisticated and eccentric ways.

The large central courtyard also has different facades. The "windows" here have oversized pediments and archivolts, even though the opening is rectangular.
