Commons--Courthouse Center

Cesar Pelli
1973

Part of a down town renewal project, this structure near the Courthouse includes a glass atrium ("The Commons") and a shopping mall off the Commons. This slick tech building, with panels of glass, is similar to the much more ambitious building by Pelli, the Pacific Design Center (1975), in Los Angeles.

An entrance and a view of the interior

The interior and Chaos I (1974) by Jean Tinguely, a kinetic sculpture using wheels from combines.

Other works by Pelli on this site include: the Clorox Building and the Pacific Design Center.
