Here are some places that you can go for help:

Don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Berger!!

I am always available, subject to my schedule,
  • By E-mail -- I check my JenzaMail at least twice per day, normally more. You can reach me more quickly by sending to my campus E-mail, but only on weekdays. I do not check my campus E-mail at home.
  • By phone: 3379 - If I don’t answer you can leave a message but I don’t always remember to check the phone when I get back to my office – I do check my E-mail. The best way to reach me when I don’t answer the phone is by E-mail!
  • My office is located in Shoker Science Center; it's the second on the left as you enter the front door. Look for the dinosaur pictures. You are welcome to walk in – but it works best to call or use my campus E-mail before you do just in case I’m out or busy with someone else.

Weekly help sessions:

Jerome Gabriel will provide "help sessions" for an hour three nights each week. He will be available in the study area in Shoker Science Center from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

Writing Center:

The Writing Center provides free, individualized teaching in college writing for all registered Bluffton University Students. Upper-class undergraduates, writing tutors may help with grammar, organization, or development in papers or other writing assignments for any course on campus; help for students whose first language is not English; and help with writing essays and letters for applications for jobs or graduate and professional schools.

Our tutors are Emily Hyatt, Kristy Liechty, Marty Schuster, and Kari Sommers, 3 excellent English majors and one excellent Spanish major (Emily). Three are C. Henry Smith scholars.

We have a new location this fall. We are operating in Berky 25 (2nd floor Berky).

Our hours this semester are as follows:

M 4-10 T 6-10 W 4-5; 6-10 R 4-5; 6-10

Writing Center tutors are available to provide one-on-one feedback on any written assignment, including papers and lab reports (they also check grad school applications and resumes for grammar, style, and mechanics). They have style manuals for APA, MLA, and Chicago. They can help you with developing a thesis, organization, citation, grammar, ESL, and mechanical problems. All sessions are free to registered BC students, including graduate, BCOMP, and undergraduate students.

We have two tutors with TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) training to help international students. Emily Hyatt and Kristy Liechty are available M 4-8, W 4-5 and 6-9, and R 4-5 and 6-9.

You can make an appointment by putting your name in a time slot on the sign-up sheet outside Berky 25. Walk-ins are welcome, but not guaranteed help.
