  • The movie To End All Wars has won a number of awards including Best Picture at the Heartland Film Festival. It is now available on DVD.

  • Hell Fire Pass includes maps of the Thailand-Burma railroad camps as well as many photographs
  • The website of the Kwai Railway Memorial project includes two stories by men who survived the war in Japanese prison camps along the River Kwai.
  • In Hell There is a Place Called Death's Railway. The author of this website is finding it especially difficult to forgive what he suffered at the hands of the Japanese, perhaps more so because, as an American merchant sailor, he was not given free transportation home by his government after the war.

    This article, by industrial consulting engineer Nai Chen, discusses what needs to be done to make the "oil bidness" more eco-friendly. Chemical Innovation, 31(4), 10-21 (April 2001).

  • Green Chemistry
    This feature article by Stephen Ritter discusses the movement in the chemical industry toward "greener" manufacturing processes. After all, the bottom line is that it's now much more expensive to throw things away than to either not make them or recycle them. (And did it ever make sense to buy thousands of gallons of expensive solvents, only to throw them away?) Chemical & Engineering News, 79(29), 27-34 (July 16, 2001).
