Report preparation
- It is strongly suggested that you make use of this little essay on how to write an abstract. You will also want to read my list of common errors in lab reports.

How to cite WWW sources
- For report preparation, I recommend using free!! drawing software:
- ACD/ChemSketch has a downloadable freeware version which is installed on the Bluffton Science Department computers. The user interface is more friendly than ISIS/Draw, and the learning curve is shallower. It comes with a 3D structure viewer.
The latest version of ChemSketch is fully OLE-enabled, allowing you to edit the pictures from within your Word documents. It also has a built-in nomenclature generator, that will generate names from structures. I have requested that it be installed on the Science Department computers.
- ISIS/Draw software from MDLI. This software has a full OLE interface with MS Word and is installed on the Bluffton Science Department computers. OLE allows you to edit your drawings without leaving Word. Don't forget to download the help file! The learning curve for this software is rather steep.
