Laboratory work will count for 20% of your final grade. You are required to complete all experiments; makeup time is provided during the last week of the term. Unexcused absences from lab will not be made up.
All exercises require that something be returned for grading; most experiments will require formal reports, which will be submitted in a standard format. Reports will be graded with a standard rubric.
Students who must miss a laboratory period are still responsible for the techniques and ideas dealt with in that experiment. Note that weeks 11 and 12 comprise a single experiment.
"Trading lab periods" is acceptable and prior instructor approval is not required (though you must notify the instructor). You may trade with another student, or use one of the open lab slots shown below. Open laboratory slots will be made available to students from other sections on a first-come, first-served basis.
