Credit for YES service

Understanding of credit agreement with Youth Evangelism Service program

  • Following completion of the YES program and upon registration for courses at Bluffton University, a student may request academic credit for the YES program at the registrar's office.

Application for credit (in Adobe Acrobat format)

  • Credit will be applied to the student's academic record upon receipt of verification from the YES administrator that the student has successfully completed the YES program. Student's YES supervisor must fill out the verification form.

Verification of completion form (in Adobe Acrobat format)

  • It is expected that, during the YES experience, a participant expecting to obtain Bluffton University credit, will keep a journal and will write a summary reflection paper, based on guided questions relating to the objectives for Bluffton's cross-cultural experience program, to submit at the time of applying for credit. This paper will not be graded, but will serve as a verification of the participant's analytical/reflective processing of his/her YES experience.
Guidelines for Journal and Summary Reflection Paper
  • Grades will be assigned on a credit (C) or no credit (NC) basis. A credit grade is considered to be average or above average.
  • Tuition payment for the credit must be made to Bluffton University when the request for academic credit is submitted. The tuition rate for credit earned in the YES Program is 25 percent of the regular tuition rate (standard for voluntary service credit).
  • Up to 14 semester hours of YES credit may be earned. With the assistance of an academic advisor, a student may choose to receive credit for the following courses:

    Nine-month program - 12 semester hours

  • LAS 340 Cross-cultural Dynamics (2)
