This experience will take place mainly in the beautiful, cool, colonial city of Bogota, Colombia, located high in the Andes mountains. Students will learn about the challenges of faith-based peace building from the perspective of a society which has experienced conflict for many years. Bi-cultural (US-Colombian) facilitators will lead us in reflecting on our role in an unequal world and how we can build bridges for international understanding. We will become acquainted with the practice of the Colombian churches and church organizations such as Justapaz and Christan Peacemaker Teams that are working for social, political, economic and spiritual transformation in their context. Together with them we will explore ways that we can become instruments of God for justice and peacemaking. All students will live with a Colombian family during their stay, and a 2-3 day trip to the coast will provide an opportunity to experience even more of the beauty of Colombia.
