Students meet the Bluffton University cross-cultural requirement by choosing one of the following options.
Short-term Cross-cultural Experience (4 semester hours)
The university offers a variety of experiences from which students may choose, according to their interest in a particular location or theme or their long-range career plans. Domestic and international experiences are available during the month of May.
Foreign Language (6 semester hours)
Students may choose to study one foreign language for six semester hours as a way to fulfill the cross-cultural requirement. Currently Bluffton offers Spanish.
Semester Program
Northern Ireland Peace & Conflict Resolution Program - (17 semester hours)
A residential program, offered in fall semester, which seeks to increase students' understanding of the complexities of the troubles in Northern Ireland so they can use the knowledge gained to analyze and increase understanding of conflict in their own and other societies.
Pittsburgh Semester - (15 semester hours)
This is our off-campus fall and spring semester program for juniors and seniors. Students will take classes, do an internship 20 hours a week, and participate in a weekly service project. Students will have lots of conversation about who they are, where they're headed in life, and where God might be in the midst of that.
