The Social Work Club gives students an opportunity to gather to enrich their knowledge and understanding of the profession, to engage in service projects and to develop organizational leadership skills. This active organization plans events for the entire campus.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
The "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event to raise awareness of the prevention of rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence was selected the Outstanding Program of 2008-09. Men donned pumps, slingbacks, stilettos and wedges to walk one mile around the university track. More than 60 men participated, including everyone from professors to football players. During the last lap, women walked with the men, representing the need for a unified front in the fight against sexual assault, domestic violence and rape. T-shirts were sold to promote the event and concessions were served. All profits of these sales were donated to local women's shelters and agencies; in total, more than $1,000 was raised! Photos
Immigration stimulation
Students participated in the Civic Engagement Day 2010 by holding an immigration stimulation where students were required to show "papers" in order to cross the Riley Creek.
Halloween Party
The Social Work Club attended a Halloween party hosted by social work department chair Professor Jennifer Hughes. Activities included pumpkin carving, marshmallow and hot dog roasting over a bonfire and enjoying conversation with fellow students, social work professors and their families.
Each year a guest speaker is invited to present the Smucker Lecture Series Forum presentation and lead a workshop. Professionals are invited to attend for CEU credit.
