The Student Investment Club is open to any Bluffton University student who is interested in learning how financial markets work. Students get hands on experience in learning about investments through the club's management of one of the university's endowment funds. Club members research, analyze and select the companies in which the club invests through the purchase of shares of common stock. In addition, club members decide how the portfolio's earnings are spent in the economics, business and accounting department budget.
Other activities include monthly meetings, speakers and a student investment game. In the student investment game, students begin with a fictitious $100,000, and real cash prizes are awarded to those who achieve the highest earnings during the academic year. Any student with an interest in investing is welcome to join the club.
