Summer Housing

Summer housing is available to students who wish to apply to live on campus. Details for summer 2012 are as follows:

Rates

The standard rate for summer housing is $320 per month. The summer worker bonus for housing is no longer available. All residents must pay the full rate each month of summer housing regardless of their work status.

Students who live on campus during the summer may elect to eat in Marbeck Commons when they offer food service. Students may pay cash or use Beaver Bucks. Bluffton does not offer a summer meal plan.

Accommodations

Due to space limitations, the student life office may not be able to grant all summer housing requests. Applications will be given priority based on the following criteria:

  1. Registered for summer class
  2. Working for university
  3. International Bluffton student
  4. Working in the community

After the deadline, you will be contacted if your request to live on-campus has been accepted. Roommate selection will occur at a later time.

Unit managers serve as modified resident advisors and custodians for each living unit. They must maintain a unit that is conducive to the pursuit of academic interests which includes responding to student concerns, establishing safety procedures and supporting the mission and policies for the university. The unit manager is also responsible for the daily cleaning of the living unit. Typically one unit manager is hired for each floor. Compensation is a free room for the summer. Current residence life staff will be considered first to fill the unit manager positions. If additional help is required, other summer housing residents will be considered for the positions.
