Bluffton University has a number of departmental clubs that offer students opportunities for study and fellowship in areas of specialized interest.
Bluffton Education Organization (BEO)

The purpose of the Bluffton Education Organization (BEO) is to develop in prospective educators an understanding of the education profession, to advance the interests and welfare of students preparing for a career in education and to stimulate the highest ideals of professional ethics, standards and attitudes. There are both formal and informal meetings in which students share ideas and concerns.

The purpose of the club is to offer students an opportunity to engage in academic discussions and participate in activities concerning the broad range of topics pertaining to the visual arts. The Art Club will support the arts by sponsoring field trips to museums, gallery openings and artist’s studio visits when and where possible within the framework of a workable budget. On campus presentations of visual arts material and/or instruction will be sponsored by the Art Club under the supervision of art department faculty.

The English Club offers students a chance to gather for camaraderie and informal discussions about all types of literature. The club also sponsors activities pertaining to a broad range of topics in English, literature and theatre, including campus poetry readings, trips to theatre productions and dinners with faculty and students.
Bluffton University Recreation Club

The purpose of the Recreation Club is to provide opportunities to gain broader perspectives and insights into the recreation field. Meetings include activities such as speakers, social events, field trips, community events and information about graduate school and job opportunities. This organization also encourages spiritual fellowship among recreation students and their instructors as well as the entire school.

The purpose of the club is to provide organization and support for science-related interests outside of regular courses. The club is open to all students whether majoring in one of the natural sciences or not. Activities have included field trips, sponsoring various campus-wide contests, “make it – take it” projects and a variety of social functions. The club also provides an informal forum for further exploring current issues related to the natural sciences.

Sport Management Club is a student-led group made up mainly of sport management majors. Its purpose is to be informed about upcoming internship possibilities, both at Bluffton and at other universities and professional organizations, as well as to plan and participate in trips and various activities.

Student Investment Club

The Student Investment Club is open to any Bluffton University student who is interested in learning how financial markets work. Students get hands-on experience in learning about investments through the club’s management of one of the university’s endowment funds. Club members research, analyze and select the companies in which the club invests through the purchase of shares of common stock. In addition, club members decide how the portfolio’s earnings are spent in the economics, business administration and accounting department budget.
Other activities include monthly meetings, speakers and a student-investment game. In the student-investment game, students begin with a fictitious $100,000, and real cash prizes are awarded to those who achieve the highest earnings during the academic year. Any student with an interest in investing is welcome to join the club.
El Club de Espanol

The purpose of this association is to expose the club members to various Spanish-speaking cultures and to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Spanish culture and language through various service projects and regular club activities. These events will bring the organization to the community and enhance the student-body perspective of the Spanish-speaking culture and language by providing them with opportunities to experience part of the culture at first or second hand.

The Bluffton University Nutrition Association is composed of students interested in the profession of nutrition and dietetics and related fields. The organization is designed to provide opportunities for professional development, service learning, and social activities. The Bluffton University Nutrition Association is affiliated with the student member section of the American Diabetic Association. Numerous leadership opportunities are available for both on - and -off campus events.
Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association
(OCMEA)

OCMEA is an organization of students preparing to teach public school music. Monthly meetings include presentations by teachers in the field as well as organizational meetings. Trips to other conferences and concerts are also part of OCMEA’s activities. The organization is affiliated with the Ohio Music Education Association and the Music Educators National Conference. Members of OCMEA attend conventions and conferences of these state and national organizations in addition to local chapter activities.
People’s Movement for the Advancement of History (PMAH)

The People’s Movement for the Advancement of History (or PMAH) is the Bluffton History Club. PMAH believes that it is the job of modern historians to situate individual people in the broader range of historical development. Put more simply, the purpose of the club is to deepen student excitement in the study of history. We accomplish this through a variety of means: films, field trips to historical sites, and social activities on and off campus.
Social Work Club

The Social Work Club is composed of students interested in the profession of social work and related fields. The club's purpose is threefold: to provide students with the opportunities to affiliate with other social work students and other professional social workers, to help students build an identity with the profession and to place a strong emphasis on the value of service. Objectives are met through activities geared to learning, service and socialization. Programming generally includes contacts with professionals through speakers, agency visits, videos/films, local/state/national conferences, service projects and social events.
