What is a Resume?

A RESUME IS:

  • An attractive, factual account of your personal assets as they relate to work you want.
  • An individually designed summary of personal, educational and experience qualifications.
  • An advertisement to entice the employer to take a closer look.
  • A valuable "first impression" to prompt an interview.

A resume is designed to get you an interview with a particular employer.  It is usually that employer's first introduction to you and deserves to be the very best image possible. It is designed not only to give the employer factual data, but to create an impression as well.  For this reason, layout and appearance can be as important as content.  Resumes are also vitally important because at least some of the questions you will be asked in an interview will be based on the information you give the employer in your resume.  It is essential that your resume presents the very best possible image of you!
