what can I do with a major in accounting

Accountants are people who compile and analyze the figures for preparing such business and financial records as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cost reports and tax records. Within the broad field of accounting are three major areas: public, management and governmental accounting. Public accountants specialize in auditing, tax matters and financial advice services. Management accountants are those who handle the financial records of private companies and firms. They may specialize in cost accounting, budget control, systems and procedures or internal auditing. Government accountants are those who examine and audit firms or individuals who are subject to government regulations. They are generally employed as Internal Revenue Agents or Bank Examiners.
