TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's tennis team travelled to Tiffin on Tuesday, September 26, to play both the TIffin Dragons and the Heidelberg Student Princes. The Tiffin contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30, at Bluffton, but because the HCAC tri-match vs. Manchester/MSJ was rained out on Sept. 23 and moved to Sept. 30, the Beavers played both Tiffin and Heidelberg at their respective courts during the trip to Tiffin.
Following the 9-0 shutout at the hands of the Dragons, Bluffton moved over to face cross-town rival Heidelberg at 3 p.m. Jenna Kauffman (Wooster/Central Christian) picked up a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory at no. 5 singles while Rae McKee (Van Buren/Van Buren) was victorious at no. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Lisa Cherry (Waterville/Anthony Wayne) and Devra Doan (Wooster/Central Christian) combined for an 8-1 win over Heidelberg at no. 3 doubles.
The Beavers will wrap up their Heartland Conference schedule on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they play host to Manchester and Mt. St. Joseph. Bluffton will open with Manchester at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
