Bluffton knocks off Defiance in HCAC action

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bluffton University women’s tennis team(1-4, 1-2) traveled to Defiance on Tuesday, Sept. 13 and picked up their first win of the year 5-4.

Bluffton split the singles matches on their way to the victory. Senior Kara Schrock (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) dominated her match at No. 2 singles, while sophomore Chelsey Person (Bellefontaine/Bellefontaine) and senior Rachel Yoder (Harrisonburg, Pa./Eastern Mennonite) pulled out two hard fought contests at No. 3 singles and No. 4 singles respectively.  The No. 2 doubles team of Person and Yoder contributed twice on the night as they won their doubles match.  Freshmen Devra Doan (Wooster/Central Christian) and Brittany Zeigler (Telford, Penn./Christopher Dock) rounded out the Bluffton wins with a convincing victory at No. 3 doubles.

Bluffton will return to action when they host Franklin and Anderson in HCAC action on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Beavers open with Franklin at 12 noon.
