Liechty given highest newcomer honor

Liechty was also named All Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for her role at No. 1 singles for Bluffton. She accumulated a 5-7 in dual match at the number one spot in 2003. She won her consolation round match at the conference tournament to go 1-2 on the tourney.
“I was glad to see the other coaches from around the conference recognize the toughness and ability she showed all year,” head coach Nate Smith said. “I’m very glad to have a player of this caliber in our program. I am very proud of the perseverance she showed this weekend, playing injured for the last day. I look forward to seeing what she can do over the next three years.”
As a team overall, the Beavers finished eighth in the conference tournament. Final results of the tournament will be available on Monday.
