Miller earns medallist honors as BC tops Mt. St. Joseph, takes third at Denison

The Bluffton College women’s golf team notched their first win of the season Saturday as the Beavers defeated The College of Mount St. Joseph by 37 stokes at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington.

Junior Erin Miller earned medallist honors with a score of 110 to lead all golfers. Bluffton finished the day with a score of 473, while Mount St. Joseph shot a 510.

Also competing for Bluffton were freshman Johanna Bontrager (114), senior Amanda Wannemacher (117), sophomore Kimberly Kayle (132) and sophomore Tara Meinerding (149).

Bluffton then improved their team score by 29 strokes on Sunday at the Denison University Invitational as the Beavers shot a 444 to place third out of five teams. BC topped Wilmington and Denison, while Ohio Northern won the event and Wittenberg took second.

Bontrager led Bluffton with a 105, while Miller shot a 110 and Wannemacher was close behind with a 111. Kayle (118) and Meinerding (132) rounded out the scoring for Bluffton.

Bluffton will compete this weekend at the Manchester College Invitational before entering the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship at Transylvania University Oct. 12 and 13.
