BLUFFTON, OHIO – The Bluffton College women’s basketball team (0-4) was defeated 65-50 by the Capital Crusaders (3-2) on Wednesday night. The Beavers led 27-25 going into halftime, but a 12-1 run by Capital to start the second half was too much for Bluffton.

The Beavers found themselves down by as much as 17 points in the second half and pulled back to tighten the Crusaders lead to 9, 57-48. Bluffton just could not close the gap in the second half as every attempt fell short.

Sophomore Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) tied her single game block record with 8 and posted 10 points and 14 rebounds for her second career double-double. Leading the Beavers in scoring was senior Lindsay Bacon (Troy/Troy) with 13 points for the contest. Rounding off the double figure scoring was freshman Tanya Rickenberg (Defiance/Paulding) with 10 points, she also posted a team high 6 assists. All three players for Bluffton in double figure scoring played the entire 40 minutes of the contest.

Senior Kelsey Studer (Delta/Delta) posted a career high 8 points. Sophomore Michelle DeVault (Fostoria/Hopewell-Loudon) also had a career high in points with 8 for the night.

Bluffton shot 35 percent for the game compared to Capital’s 31 percent. The Beavers will be back in action on December 13 at Denison. Tip off is scheduled 2 p.m.
