Lindsey Delscamp has career high day for Beavers with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 three-pointers

LEXINGTON, KY.The Bluffton College women’s basketball team (1-20, 0-10 HCAC) were defeated by the Transylvania University Pioneers (14-5, 8-2 HCAC) 75-47 on Saturday afternoon.

 

Bluffton came out early in the contest to lead 4-3 but could not hold on as Transylvania led for the rest of the game. The Beavers gave a good effort in the first period by heading into the locker room only down by ten points, 35-25. The second half went a little rougher for Bluffton as Transylvania went on an 11-4 run to start off the period. Bluffton would connect on eight buckets in the second half for the final score, 75-47. For the game the Beavers shot 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

 

The Beavers struggled again with turnovers as they committed 27 for the game. The Pioneers converted 30 points on the contest off of Bluffton turnovers. The Beavers did lead the rebounding contest by grabbing down 35 boards to Transylvania’s 34. For the game the Pioneers shot 45 percent compared to the Beavers 37 percent.

 

Junior Lindsey Delscamp (Germantown/Madison) led the Beavers with a career high 12 points for the day. She also posted seven rebounds and four 3-pointers (both career highs). Freshman Tanya Rickenberg (Defiance/Paulding) was the only other Beaver in double digits with 11 points. Sophomore Karin Schaller (Jenera/Arlington) had a team-high eight rebounds on the day.

 

Jenny Webb led Transylvania with 18 points for the contest. Beth Ralston threw in 12 points with Katie Boaz chipping in 11 points.

Bluffton will be back in action on Wednesday at home in Founders Hall vs. Mount St. Joseph. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 7 pm.
