Bluffton competes at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio -  The Bluffton men and women’s track and field team competed in the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012. The meet served as training and competition for athletes who were not competing in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

Junior Chris Arnold (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) ran two personal-bests in the 800-meter run (2:20.81) and the one-mile (5:07.45). Freshman Josh Mattoon (Rawson/Cory-Rawson) set two personal records in the 60-meter dash (8.16) and the 500-meter run (1:16.40). Freshman Rob Cook (Convoy/Crestview) threw two new personal records in the shot put (36-09 feet) and the weight throw (36-01.5 feet). Freshman Jordan Wegner (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) also had a pair of personal bests in the 200-meter dash (30.03) and the 500-meter run (1:28.35).

Senior Andy Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) ran a personal record in the one-mile with a time of 4:44.65. Junior Mackenzie Mayer (Versailles) also set a new personal best in the one-mile run with a time of 6:58.36. Sophomore Julie Court (Galion) threw a lifetime best in the weight throw with a toss of 36-05.5 feet. Freshman Eric Dameron (Galion) ran a lifetime personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77. Freshman Jenna Strauss (Bridgewater) ran a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 9.18.

The Beavers will compete again on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
