DELAWARE, Ohio - The Bluffton men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Marv Frye Invitational on Friday, April 7, 2006. The women finished 9th of 12, while the men placed 10th of 11.
Sarah Humphrey (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) was the top performer for the women’s team, finishing third in the 5000m as she finished in 19:27.00. She was followed by Jen Creamer (Westerville/Westerville South) who came in fifth with a time of 19:59.00. Rita Muether (Celina/Celina) continued her success in the 200m with a fourth place finish, racing across the line with a time of 26.52. She also finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:01.39.
Rex Brown (Wauseon/Pettisville) had another big day for the Beavers. Brown finished second in the javelin with a throw of 169’ 3”, and his toss of 118’ 8” in the discus was good for fifth. Shandon North (Galion/Galion) and Colby Bright (Galion/Galion) each competed in the 400m, finishing third and fifth, respectively. North broke the 22-year old school record in the event, set by Doug Sanders in 1984 (49.34), with a time of 49.08, while Bright crossed the line in 50.14.
The Beavers return to action on April 15th, when they will participate in the All-Ohio Championships.
