Beavers Sweep Conference Tri-Meet

Both the men's and women's track and field teams picked up victories over conference foes Defiance and Manchester on Tuesday, in a tri-meet at Defiance College. Bluffton picked up 10 event titles on the women's side and 12 on the men's side in their victories.
The Beavers had a number of multiple event winners, as five different athletes were able to lay claim to three wins on the day. Stephanie Welch (400m, High Jump, 4x400), Jana Hammer (100m, 4x100, 4x400), Rita Muether (200m, 4x100, 4x400), Jason Lehman (300IH, 4x100, 4x400), and Al Pearson (4x100, 4x400, 4x800) all were able to enjoy three different winning efforts during the day. Jenny Lehman (100HH, 4x100), Johnny Ichrist (400m, 4x800), Dan Rosebrock (800m, 4x800), Colby Bright (Long Jump, 4x400), and Steve Myers (Shot, Discus) each picked up two event titles for Bluffton. Other individual event winners for the Beavers included Michele Bailey (discus), Laurel Miller (triple jump), Rachel Noirot (vault), Dave Espinoza (3200m), and Josh Espinoza (vault).
Bluffton will be in action once again this coming weekend when they travel to Tiffin University for a five-team meet consisting of the Beavers, Tiffin University, Heidelberg College, Ohio Northern University, and Marietta College. The hammer throw and javelin begin at 11 am, followed by the remainder of the field events at 12 pm, with the running events beginning at 1 pm.
