Betts and Lange earn All Central Region first team status

BLUFFTON, OHIO - Bluffton College sophomore Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) and junior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) have been named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Central Region first team.

The Beavers (26-8, 12-2 HCAC) had an incredible season in 2004 as they broke the single season BC wins record with 26 victories and tied Transylvania University for the Heartland Conference season wins record with 12. Bluffton was also the 2004 regular season HCAC champions.

Betts was selected as the 2004 Most Valuable Player of the HCAC as well as being named Sophomore Sarah Bettsfirst team All-HCAC. The pitcher broke almost every pitching record at Bluffton this season and posted an ERA of 0.74. She posted an opponent batting average of .146 and faced 745 batters in 209 innings on the mound. Betts had 25 victories in 32 starts with 29 complete games and 11 shutout wins. She was chosen as HCAC player of the week twice in 2004.

Lange, who started all 34 games for the Beavers this year, was named 2004 first team All-Junior Allison LangeHCAC for her accomplishments on the diamond. Allison broke single season records in batting average (.522), hits (48), doubles (14), home runs (5), total bases (81), slugging percentage (.880) and on-base percentage (.600). She holds the career marks at Bluffton for the top batting average at .357, most total bases, most doubles and most home runs. She also ranks third in career hits, fifth in runs scored, and fourth in runs batted in.  Lange was an HCAC player of the week honoree once this season.
