Beavers pick up first Heartland Conference loss

CINCINATTI, OHIO - The Bluffton College softball team (18-4, 5-1 HCAC) split with Mount St. Joseph in their doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Beavers won the first game 3-1 and dropped the second game 8-1.

 

Bluffton posted seven hits in the first game with junior Allison Lange (Archbold/Archbold) bolting out a home run. Michelle Pleiman (Yorkshire/Minster) and Sarah Betts (Bryan/Bryan) hit a triple each.

 

Mount St. Joseph took an early lead in the second game as they went up 7-0 in the bottom of the first. The Beavers posted one run but could not shake the Lions as they lost their first HCAC game of the year. Bluffton had no extra base hits in the nightcap. With the win and loss, Betts record on the mound moves to 17-3 for the season.

 

The Beavers will be on the road on Saturday for another HCAC doubleheader at Transylvania University. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
